Hay everyone!

Do you know what the New Jersey state animal is? I’ll give you a hint: we’ve got hooves! (I hope I didn’t give it away too quickly, check the bottom of my post for the answer.) That reminds me, next month is the Month of the Horse! We celebrate this amazing animal and its contributions to society (and our state) throughout the entire month of June.

If you don’t have anything special planned yet, you can come celebrate with us! The opening ceremonies and award presentations will be taking place during the first week of June. Here’s what you need to know:

When: Tuesday, June 4th at 4:00pm

Where: Horse Park of New Jersey

626 Route 524 (Stagecoach Road)

Allentown, NJ 08501

Reserve your spot: email Lynn Matthews at lynn.mathews@ag.nj.gov

The New Jersey Equine Advisory Board and Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey will be the hosts of this event. Some light refreshments will be provided during the evening by this organization.

The awards presented at this year’s event will include Standardbred of the Year, Thoroughbred of the Year, Horseperson of the Year, NJNSS Horse of the Year, SBOA Breeder of the Year, Bell Scholarship, Superior Achievement Awards, and Youth Horseperson of the Year. All these awards aim to recognize influential people in the New Jersey horse community.

I hope I get to see y’all at this fun event to celebrate the horse and the wonderful people who make the equine industry a success in NJ. I may be there to sample the food! They usually serve some of my favorite snacks at these sorts of celebrations.

Even if you don’t have the chance to join us on June 4th, I hope you take time to celebrate the horse during the month of June. The Equine Science Center will have some more ways for you to celebrate, so keep your eyes open!

Until next time.

Your friend,

Lord Nelson

P.S. The NJ state animal is the horse, of course!
