From the Director
Fall 2025
Dear Friends,
It is with great excitement and deep appreciation that I step into the role of Interim Director of the Rutgers Equine Science Center. After 22 years serving as an Extension Specialist, I am honored to continue my journey at Rutgers in this new capacity, one that allows me to build upon the foundation of the Founding Director, Dr. Karyn Malinowski, while also opening new avenues for engagement and innovation.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated researchers, educators, students, and equine professionals across New Jersey and beyond. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the vital role the Center plays, not only in advancing the field of equine science, but also in serving the diverse needs of our community.
As Director, I am committed to evolving the Center into a hub that is truly “all things equine to everyone.” Whether you’re a student, horse owner, industry professional, or simply passionate about equine health and well-being, the Center will be a place where your interests are met with expertise, innovation, and inclusivity.
One exciting development is the Center’s integration into the Department of Animal Sciences at Rutgers University. This transition opens the door to enhanced experiential learning opportunities for our students and a more robust equine curriculum at Rutgers. By embedding equine science more deeply into the academic fabric of the university, we will better prepare the next generation of equine professionals and researchers.
As we move forward, I invite you to join us in shaping the future of equine science at Rutgers. Your support, feedback, and engagement are invaluable as we expand our reach, deepen our impact, and continue to serve as a trusted resource for the equine community. Stay tuned as we unveil new programs and exciting developments that will further enrich our offerings and strengthen our connection to the equine world.
With gratitude and enthusiasm,
Interim Director, Rutgers Equine Science Center
Extension Specialist in Equine Management, Department of Animal Sciences
