Hay everyone!
It has been crazy busy at the farm lately, especially with the end of the semester approaching. I noticed there were a bunch of new faces wandering around the barn the other day. That’s when it came to me! Every fourth Thursday in April is “Take Your Child to Work Day!” I am so lucky that of all places, this group ended up at the Rutgers Equine Science Center. Not only did I get to meet so many new young horse lovers, but we did so many fun activities together.
We started off at the treadmill lab for our first session at 9am, where my friend Art demonstrated just exactly how we do our treadmill demonstrations. Everyone got to see all the gaits he could do, and it was especially cool to see his trotting. At 10am, Jolee got to be the star of the show for another group of kids where she showed off how fast she could pace. Talk about being the mane event!

Bring Your Child to Work Day offered so many different activities for the kids to choose from, including gait-guessing games and taking pictures with all my horse friends. They got to apply what they learned from Dr. Herbst about gaited horses and match the breed to their specialty gait. It was really cool!
Making learning extra fun with some games!
I hope you guys had so much fun that you will join us again at the next “Take Your Child to Work Day!”
Until next time.
Your friend,
Lord Nelson
