RUTGERS UNIVERSITY 2009 EQUINE SCIENCE UPDATE
Event Will Showcase Research Efforts to Improve Diverse Facets of the Equine Industry
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 2, 2009) – The Rutgers University Equine
Science Center will host its 2009 Equine Science Update on Tuesday,
December 8, 2009 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. The annual event will be held at the
Cook Campus Center on the G.H. Cook Campus. The 2009 Equine
Science Update is an opportunity to unite equine professionals,
horse owners, farm owners and stable managers, science teachers and
students, 4-H horse program participants, educators and equine enthusiasts
for the purpose of presenting the Equine Science Center’s research
initiatives and work in advancing horse industry issues. Faculty
researchers and their supporting team members are currently working to
support equine health, horse management practices and environmental
stewardship, and equine nutrition and aging. Presentations during the 2009
Equine Science Update will include: Highlights of Center Activity Environmental Impacts of Equine Operations -
Presentation of the Ryders Lane Environmental Best Management Practices
and Working Horse Farm Mustangs and Metabonomics How Gut-Derived Bacteria Influence the Incidence of
Laminitis Effects of Age and Training on the Hormonal Regulation
of Glucose Metabolism in Horses The evening
will start with dinner at 6:00 pm; optional tours prior to the Equine
Science Update
include a visit to the current crop of horses in the Young Horse Teaching
and Research Program and a demonstration of the Equine Science Center’s
high-speed equine treadmill at 5:00 pm. Please click
