RUTGERS EQUINE SCIENCE CENTER ANNOUNCES FALL WEBINAR SERIES

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ –

“Common Horse Health Issues” is the over-arching theme of the upcoming Fall Webinar Series hosted by the Rutgers Equine Science Center and Rutgers Cooperative Extension.  Dr. Carey Williams, Extension Equine Specialist and Associate Director of the Equine Science Center assembled two presentations by a Rutgers visiting professor Dr. Ingrid Vervuert from University of Leipzig, Germany.   Dr. Vervuert is on a two month sabbatical beginning in October 2014.  She is a senior scientist at the Institute of Animal Nutrition, Nutrition Disease and Dietetics, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Leipzig, Germany.  Dr. Vervuert is a veterinarian with postdoctoral lecture qualifications in Animal Nutrition and Dietetics. Her major field of study is Animal Nutrition with an emphasis on horses. While Dr. Vervuert is at Rutgers she will be working with Dr. Sarah Ralston, Professor in the Department of Animal Science, on NMR-based metabonomic analyses as applied to equine nutrition topics.

Dr. Vervuert will be presenting “Gastric Ulcers in Horses” on November 18th and on December 2nd will be presenting on “Obesity in Horses”.  Both webinars begin at 7:00 pm EST and conclude at 8:00 pm.

“The fall webinar series, focusing on these two common horse health issues, will be a live interactive webcast that horse owners will not want to miss.  The webinar provides participants with the convenience to interact with experts and have their questions answered while in the comfort of their own home” said Williams. “It is truly an honor to have an expert in the area of ulcers and obesity here at Rutgers and we are excited to have her present to the horse owning public.”
